Angels Beat Indians 9-5

(Newser) – Mike Napoli hit his first career grand slam, a second-inning drive that powered the Los Angeles Angels over the Cleveland Indians 9-5 Wednesday. Garret Anderson, Casey Kotchman and Vladimir Guerrero also homered for the Angels, who dropped Paul Byrd to 0-2 this season.

Dustin Moseley (1-1) was staked to a 6-0 lead and allowed four runs and nine hits in six innings. Cleveland closed with four runs in the sixth, but the Angels came right back when Guerrero hit a three-run homer against Jensen Lewis in the seventh. Byrd allowed six runs and five hits in three innings, raising his ERA to 11.05.
