Researchers have developed a sensor-equipped sleeve to help basketball players perfect their shots. It monitors athlete’s movements in real time and plays a certain tune to give them instant feedback on their performance. Over time, players recognize the tunes that equal a successful shot. The technology could be adapted for other gear, like running shorts or a bodysuit, reports Technology Review.
Experts at the Commonwealth Science and Industrial Research Organization in Australia created the device. "We can look at how to improve [a player's] skills and also analyze the influence of other performance factors, like fatigue," said one person involved in testing the sleeve. The researchers hope to make the technology available commercially, but first say they must do more testing.
