The FBI says it has arrested a fugitive Marine sought in the murder of a pregnant fellow Marine in North Carolina, the AP reports. Authorities say they arrested Cpl. Cesar Laurean in Mexico, where he fled in January. He is charged with killing Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach, whose burned remains, and those of her fetus, were found in his back yard.

Laurean, a native of Mexico, remains in that country awaiting extradition to the US. Before he fled, he left his wife a note saying that Lauterbach had slit her own throat and that he buried her body. His wife then alerted authorities. Lauterbach had accused him of rape, which he denied. Both were stationed at Camp LeJeune. (More Maria Lauterbach stories.)
