J.D. Drew went 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs to lead the Boston Red Sox to a 12-6 victory over Detroit tonight to send the Tigers to their eighth loss in nine games. Sean Casey drove in three runs on a pair of hits for the Sox, while Manny Ramirez had a two-run double and also scored a run.

The Tigers stranded six in the first three innings despite failing to get a hit off Tim Wakefield. He walked five and hit two batters in five innings, allowing three hits and one earned run while striking out five to improve to 10-1 in his last 12 starts at Fenway. Papelbon pitched a scoreless ninth for his third save in three tries. (More MLB stories.)
