The Fate of the Furious might not have opened as well as expected in the US, but it was enough to give the movie the biggest worldwide debut ever. The eighth film in the Fast and Furious franchise pulled in a $532.5 million globally in its opening weekend, edging the $529 million brought in by Star Wars: The Force Awakens, reports the BBC. In the US specifically, the movie made about $100 million, down from the $147 million of its predecessor in the series. That's still enough to make it the No. 2 debut in the US this year, however, behind only Beauty and the Beast ($175 million), notes the Los Angeles Times. (See what the reviewers are saying.)
