Bill Blasts Media Over Hillary's 'Sniper' Misfire

(Newser) – Just when you thought the controversy surrounding Hillary Clinton's trip to Bosnia had died down, Bill Clinton resuscitated it with an impassioned defense of his wife's claims. During a rally at an Indiana high school, the former president lashed out at the media for treating Hillary as if "she'd robbed a bank" for suggesting that she dodged sniper fire in 1996.

"Some of them, when they're 60, they'll forget something when they're tired at 11 at night, too," Politico quotes Clinton saying. The New York senator has claimed that she "misspoke" out of fatigue when describing her war-zone landing, although CBS News has aired video of three separate statements. Bill also said Hill had to move to the "bulletproof" part of the plane for landing, and praised her as "the first first lady since Eleanor Roosevelt to go into a combat zone"—although Pat Nixon traveled to Vietnam in 1969.
