TMZ has obtained the harrowing account of Chris Cornell's final moments, which the gossip site says his wife, Vicky, described to friends and family. According to the site, Vicky says the lights in their home, which can be controlled remotely via phone, started flickering on and off. The Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman called Vicky from his Detroit hotel room moments later, and she asked if he had manipulated the lights—but he claimed to have done so an hour before, when he was still onstage at his final concert. Based on that plus the fact that he was slurring his words, Vicky was worried. Then he got angry, complaining first about the cast and crew of the show and then saying he "blew his voice" at the show. Soon after, the things he was saying made no sense, and Vicky started asking him what he took.

He claimed to have only taken two Ativan to calm himself down, but she was skeptical. She says Cornell then got "cocky and aggressive," though not toward her, and that his behavior reminded her of the days when he used to abuse Oxycontin, 14 years prior. She hung up the phone and called both Cornell's bodyguard and the hotel to try to get someone inside the room as quickly as possible. Within 30 minutes, the bodyguard had broken down two doors to get inside the room, where he found Cornell hanging from an exercise band. Fans have since been trying to book the room at the MGM Grand Detroit where he died, the Detroit Free Press reports, but so far the hotel is keeping it unavailable. TMZ's sources say investigators at the scene found fresh track marks on Cornell's arm. (Read the full report. Or read Vicky's final letter to her husband.)
