Astros Beat Marlins 5-1; Win Series

Posted Apr 13, 08 5:16 PM CDT in Sports

(Newser) – Wandy Rodriguez pitched well again at Minute Maid Park, and J.R. Towles and Michael Bourn homered to lead the Houston Astros over the Florida Marlins 5-1 on Sunday. Lance Berkman added an RBI double for the Astros, who've won two in a row for the first time this season. Josh Willingham hit a solo homer for the Marlins.

Rodriguez struck out seven and allowed five hits in seven strong innings. Florida's Burke Badenhop, making his first major league start, allowed seven hits with three strikeouts and a walk. The 25-year-old Badenhop came to Florida in the deal that sent Dontrelle Willis and Miguel Cabrera to Detroit. Hanley Ramirez singled in the first inning to extend his hitting streak to 11 games.
