In a region where many watch politics more feverishly than sports, some DC bars are opting to open as early as 9am Thursday to screen former FBI Director James Comey’s testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee. WTOP has a full list of venues open to viewers, such as Shaw’s Tavern, which advertised its event on Facebook as the “Comey Hearing Covfefe,” where customers can sip on Russian vodka specials and nosh on “FBI” sandwiches (hundreds have RSVPed). Business Insider reports that events are popping up in San Francisco and Houston bars as well, despite even earlier viewing times in those time zones. (More James Comey stories.)
