NJ Governor Paid Ex $6M

Union leader remains part of Corzine's life, whether he wants her there or not

(Newser) – Breaking up really is hard to do, especially if you're the governor of New Jersey and your ex is a state employees' union president. Jon Corzine and Carla Katz split up in 2004, and Katz got more out of their 2-year relationship than a threadbare couch and some mix tapes, the Times reports: a settlement worth more than $6 million.

A state ethics panel last week cleared Corzine after an investigation into the conduct of union negotiations last year, and he says Katz "remains a good friend and respected labor voice."
