RIP, Flounder. Stephen Furst, the actor who played that character in Animal House, is dead at age 63, reports TMZ. A rep tells the Hollywood Reporter that the cause is complication from diabetes, which Furst had battled for years. He was even a spokesman for the American Diabetes Association. Furst's role as Kent "Flounder" Dorfman in the 1978 movie launched his career. He followed that up with guest appearances on various sitcoms until his next big role, that of Dr. Axelrod on St. Elsewhere. He's also known for his role as Vir Cotto in Babylon 5.

"To truly honor him, do not cry for the loss of Stephen Furst. But rather, enjoy memories of all the times he made you snicker, laugh, or even snort to your own embarrassment. He intensely believed that laugher is the best therapy, and he would want us to practice that now," write his sons on Facebook. (More obituary stories.)
