Yankee Stadium Gets Celestial First Pitch Tomorrow

Posted Apr 15, 08 6:59 PM CDT in Sports

(Newser) – The New York Yankees' final season at Yankee Stadium will see another first tomorrow night, the Daily News reports, with a US astronaut throwing out the first pitch—via video link from the International Space Station. Garrett Reisman, a 40-year-old New Jersey native and lifelong fan of the Bronx Bombers, will do the honors against the hated Boston Red Sox.

"I am really honored to have this opportunity in such a historic season in the House that Ruth Built, and I would like to thank the Yankees for being so supportive of our mission up here in space," Reisman said. "From Earth's orbit, but still deep inside the Yankees Universe, let me say, Go Yanks!"
