Bush to Unveil Greenhouse Gas Goals

(Newser) – President Bush is expected to propose intermediate goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions today on the eve of climate change negotiations in Paris. The goals won't include proposed legislation or specifics on changes needed to reach the targets, reports the Washington Post. He will also reiterate his opposition to mandatory emissions standards that don't apply to India and China.

Bush has long opposed legislative proposals to require a mandatory reduction in greenhouse gases, which are a key cause of climate change. "This basically sounds like the same quarterback calling the same play," said a spokesman at a liberal think tank. "It's just another way of Bush saying no."
