The complete solar eclipse set to grace our skies on Aug. 21 has been the subject of buzz for months, and Krispy Kreme now hopes to add a little sugar to that buzz. USA Today reports that, to commemorate the cosmic event, the chain will offer an "eclipsed" version of its original glazed doughnut—meaning it will be coated in a thick chocolate glaze. "The solar eclipse is a rare occasion providing a total sensory experience for viewers across the continental US. Chocolate will have the same effect," a Krispy Kreme rep says. Per the company, the special doughnut will be available in participating stores in the US and Canada, not only on eclipse day but also during evening "Hot Light" hours on Aug. 19 and 20. Krispy Kreme has even released a 30-second, 2001: A Space Odyssey-scored ad. (More Krispy Kreme stories.)
