Dad Falls to Death at Ballpark

Posted Apr 16, 08 12:44 PM CDT in US Sports

(Newser) – A 36-year-old father of two died after falling four stories from a Shea Stadium escalator last night, Newsday reports. Antonio Nararainsami was leaving the ballpark with family members when he tumbled over the railing of the non-moving escalator.  Police are looking into the possibility that Nararainsami was "surfing" the railing, but some witnesses remember a "sudden jerk" of the stairway.

"We saw his whole body go over the side. There's no explanation for what happened there. It's like a nightmare," a cousin said. "We're all diehard Mets fans, the whole family." The Mets have offered their "deepest and heartfelt condolences" to Nararainsami's family, which includes a pregnant wife and the two daughters who were with him when he fell.
