House Democrats Again Summon Rove

Posted Apr 17, 08 6:15 PM CDT in US

(Newser) – Four months after its Senate counterpart held Karl Rove in contempt for refusing to testify, the House Judiciary Committee demanded today that the ex-Bush strategist testify about potential political motives for a prosecution. A committee report found “troublesome facts” in the case of a former Alabama governor, saying the probe was closing down before high-level Bushies insisted it be re-opened.

Rove in particular has been named as pressing Justice to bring charges, Politico reports. Said Democratic committee chair John Conyers, “The actions we are taking today, including calling Karl Rove to testify, are an effort to get to the bottom of this matter.” Don Siegelman was convicted of corruption charges in 2006 but recently released pending appeal.
