Sharks Skate to 4-3 Victory Over Flames

Posted Apr 18, 08 12:50 AM CDT in Sports

(Newser) – Patrick Marleau and Jonathan Cheechoo made sure San Jose wouldn't squander the momentum gained in Calgary, moving the Sharks within one win of a fourth straight trip to the second round of the playoffs. Marleau scored the tiebreaking goal late in the second period, while Cheechoo added two more in the third sending the Sharks to a 4-3 victory over the Flames last night.

Joe Pavelski also scored and Evgeni Nabokov made 33 saves for the Sharks, who take a 3-2 lead in their first-round series and can wrap the series up by winning Game 6 in Calgary on Sunday night. The series would return to the Shark Tank, if necessary, for Game 7 next Tuesday.
