Posted Apr 19, 08 12:27 AM CDT in Sports

(Newser) – Slumping David Ortiz, who entered the game hitting just .111, blasted a grand slam, Daisuke Matsuzaka stayed unbeaten and the Boston Red Sox beat the Texas Rangers 11-3 on Friday. Dustin Pedroia hit his first homer, a two-run shot that capped Boston's five-run fourth inning. The Red Sox won for the sixth time in seven games.

Matsuzaka (4-0) gave up three runs and five hits with two walks and four strikeouts in 5 1-3 innings. He labored through the first three, throwing 62 pitches, but held the Rangers to one run and two hits. Milton Bradley extended his hitting streak to 13 games and Hank Blalock hit a two-run homer for the Rangers.
