Bullock OK After Crash With Drunk Driver

Posted Apr 19, 08 6:58 PM CDT in Gossip

(Newser) – A woman accused of drunk driving slammed head-on into Sandra Bullock's SUV last night near the Massachusetts coast, the Boston Globe reports. Bullock, 43, her husband, Jesse James, 39, and their driver were unhurt in the crash. Police said oncoming driver Lucille Gatchell "almost giggled" when told who she had hit. "She said, 'My first drunk driving and I hit Sandra Bullock,'" a policeman said.

Police said Gatchell was 2.5 times over the legal alcohol limit when she jumped lanes and hit Bullock's car. One officer arrived on the scene to find Bullock consoling her husband, and repeatedly asking about Gatchell's condition. Gatchell, who refused to comment on the crash today, will be arraigned Tuesday. Bullock is currently filming her next movie, "The Proposal," on Cape Ann, Mass.
