Ray Charles' 12 Kids Seek More Control Over Estate

Posted Apr 20, 08 8:30 AM CDT in Arts & Living

(Newser) – The children of legendary singer Ray Charles—all 12 of them—want more control over their father's estate. A confusing meeting with their ailing dad before he died has entangled the kids in legal battles over Charles' estate, currently run by the musician's longtime manager Joe Adams, the Los Angeles Times reports.

"No one is as committed to Ray Charles as his family," said the mother of the singer's youngest child. The family is crticizing Adams for poor management decisions they say have cheapened Ray's legacy—such as releasing two posthumous recordings with old tracks overdubbed by new singers.
