SC Teen Busted in 'New Columbine' Plot

Posted Apr 21, 08 5:29 AM CDT in Crime & Courts US

(Newser) – South Carolina police have foiled a student's suicide bomb attack on a high school, timed to coincide with the ninth anniversary of the Columbine school massacre, officials said. The 18-year-old senior was arrested after his parents discovered 10 pounds of explosive chemicals, a year-long journal  and detailed plans for a major assault the boy referred to as a new Columbine, reports the Charlotte Observer.

Yesterday was the anniversary of the Columbine school massacre that claimed 15 lives. The teen allegedly planned the attack for today and made an audiotape to leave behind. “People are rattled," said the Chesterfield police chief. "He had everything he needed to do what he said he was going to do. He had no plans of coming out alive. He seemed to hate the world."
