A Texas Uber driver says he was threatened and insulted by an intoxicated Dallas prosecutor while taking her home, and she's now lost her job with the DA's office, per the Washington Post. Shaun Platt, 26, tells ABC News that while transporting 32-year-old Jody Warner home from a pub Friday she took issue with his route and got nasty. He says the assistant DA called him an "idiot," a "retard," and a "f---ing joke," and that he finally pulled over and asked her to get out. He says he called the cops after she refused, mused out loud "this might be a kidnapping," and even hit him. Platt says she also threw her job title around and said, "Who are [the cops] gonna believe, you or me?"—at which point, he noted, "'You're kind of right,' so I took out my phone and I recorded it." He ultimately gave the recording to the Dallas Morning News.
Platt didn't press charges, but Warner has since been banned from using Uber while the company investigates, and she was fired from her job Monday. "Although criminal charges have not been filed, her behavior is contrary to this office's core principle of integrity, and it will not be tolerated," Dallas DA Faith Johnson said in a statement. At a Tuesday presser, a tearful Warner apologized for her "language," as well as to her former employer and her family, to Dallas County, and to victims whose cases she was working on. As for the Uber incident, she said she went into "fight or flight mode" because of the driver's unfamiliar route. She added that "I can tell you that not everything he said was true," including that she'd touched and "belittled" him. Platt tells the Morning News he didn't want her to lose her job, but that "she can't treat people like that just because I'm not a doctor or a lawyer." (More Uber stories.)
