Strawberry Fields Forever, Sir Paul Pleads

(Newser) – If you want to fight global warming, drop the hamburger, Sir Paul McCartney advises. “The biggest change anyone could make in their own lifestyle would be to become vegetarian,” said McCartney, himself a longtime herbivore. Livestock is a big contributor to global warming, the ex-Beatle says, because of the amount of land and water the meat industry uses.

“It's very surprising that most major environmental organizations are leaving the option of going vegetarian off their lists of top ways to curtail global warming,” McCartney told PETA. "I would urge everyone to think about taking this simple step to help our precious environment and save it for the children of the future."
