Trump to Roy Moore: Time to Concede

Roy Moore isn't giving up hope that he could still be the next senator from Alabama, proclaiming Wednesday night that "the battle rages on," but President Trump is now telling him to retreat. When asked by reporters in front of the White House Friday whether Moore should concede, Trump said, "I think he should. He tried." The Hill notes Trump's congratulatory tweet on election night to Moore's opponent, Doug Jones, and Jones said he'd had a "very pleasant phone call" with Trump on Wednesday and already received an invite to the White House.

Moore, meanwhile, has said he's still waiting on military and provisional ballots to come in to see if they'd trigger a recount, per Fox News. During the reporters' questioning Friday, Trump segued into how he'd supported Moore because "we need the seat," then turned his attention to the tax bill, calling it "something that's going to be monumental" before finally circling back to Moore conceding. He noted: "I would certainly say he should." See his comments via NBC News. (More Roy Moore stories.)
