In a May meeting, President Trump asked then-Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe questions that McCabe found "disturbing," sources tell the Washington Post. In the Oval Office meeting, called soon after Trump fired FBI Director James Comey, Trump asked McCabe who he voted for in the 2016 election, according to the Post, which describes its sources as "several current and former US officials." The sources say McCabe told the president he hadn't voted. They say Trump also expressed anger that McCabe's wife, Jill McCabe, received around $500,000 from a political action committee linked to the Clintons for her unsuccessful 2015 state Senate run in Virginia as a Democrat.

The Post's sources say Trump, who appointed Christopher Wray to head the FBI in July, has often expressed his dislike of McCabe. In tweets last month, Trump complained about McCabe's retirement plans and his role in the Hillary Clinton email investigation. Sources say special counsel Robert Mueller is interested in McCabe's conversation with Trump, and another Washington Post story cites sources who say Mueller plans to question the president in the coming weeks about the departures of both Comey and former national security adviser Michael Flynn. The sources say Trump's legal team hopes to provide at least some of Trump's testimony in written form. Republicans in Congress, meanwhile, have stepped up their own investigations of the FBI and Justice Department's Russia probes, reports Politico. (More Andrew McCabe stories.)
