President Trump made what British TV host Piers Morgan called a "significant climbdown" during an interview in Davos, Switzerland, Thursday. The president told Morgan that he is prepared to apologize for his controversial retweets last year of anti-Muslim videos from the far-right Britain First group, the BBC reports. Trump, speaking on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum, said he "knew nothing" about the group before he shared the videos. "Here's what's fair—if you're telling me they're horrible people, horrible racist people, I would certainly apologize if you'd like me to do that," he told Morgan.

In the interview, which will air in full on Britain's ITV on Jan. 28, Trump—whose retweet of Britain First was criticized by Prime Minister Theresa May—said he loved the UK, especially Scotland, and told Morgan he did not want to "cause any difficulty for your country." Trump met May in Davos Thursday and said that contrary to rumors, they have a "really great relationship." As Trump arrived at the forum Friday, he told the media that the gathering had a "tremendous crowd" like they'd "never had before," the AP reports. He predicted that his address to the forum later in the day would be "very well received." He also said reports that he tried to fire special counsel Robert Mueller were "fake news."
