Michael B. Jordan, obviously in need of some good press after indirectly breaking that poor woman's retainer, has announced his production company will require inclusion riders for all of its projects, Mashable reports. According to the New York Times, the Black Panther star is the first major actor to publicly adopt inclusion riders following Frances McDormand's call for them during Sunday's Oscars ceremony. Inclusion riders are contractual clauses that require a certain level of diversity among cast and crew for film productions. In an Instagram post Wednesday, Jordan says his Outlier Society Productions will use inclusion riders "in support of the women & men who are leading this fight." "I’ve been privileged to work with powerful woman & persons of color throughout my career & it’s Outlier’s mission to continue to create for talented individuals going forward," he says.

Jordan's announcement was met with applause online, including from his Creed costar. "YES," Tessa Thompson tweets. "This is how change happens. When we commit to making it." It's unclear what Outlier's diversity requirements will be or if Jordan will also require inclusion riders in his personal contracts, something a major movie star has yet to do. Outlier is currently producing a Netflix series about the mother of a superhero in which Jordan will appear, as well as a reboot of The Thomas Crown Affair. "This is a win on every level," says Stacy Smith, who studies gender equality in film and television. "We're hopeful this is one of many to come." And, again, it's the least Jordan could do after his shirtless torso broke that woman's retainer (which, in fairness, he offered to replace).
