Obama Needs 'Act II'

Posted Apr 25, 08 6:49 PM CDT in Politics    Most Covered

(Newser) – Act I was his grand entrance, and Act III will be his acceptance speech at the party convention, but now Barack Obama needs an Act II, Peggy Noonan writes in the Wall Street Journal—and the subject of the act should be America. John McCain carries love of country “in his bones,” but Obama hasn’t closed the deal because ordinary voters don’t yet get the “content” and “fullness” of his patriotism.

Sure Obama's glamorous, “but has he ever gotten misty-eyed over … the Wright Brothers and what kind of country allowed them to go off on their own and change everything? How about D-Day, or George Washington, or Henry Ford? … What did he learn was loveable, and what does he think about it all?”
