(Newser) – The Santa Monica Pier Ferris wheel has been sold on eBay for $132,400—to a first-time eBayer and the son of a former Oklahoma City mayor, the Los Angeles Times reports. Grant Humphreys, a 32-year-old real estate developer who'd never set eyes on the crowd-pleaser, placed the winning bid yesterday just before the close of the auction that drew six bidders.

Humphreys plans to ship the 122,000-pound ride, which is being replaced by a new model, to a future home in Oklahoma City; he’ll drop another $135,000 on a supporting base. “We’re out here in the middle of America,” said an excited rep. “We don’t have too many shiny toys.”
