Wright Lashes Out at Media

(Newser) – The controversial pastor who triggered trouble for Barack Obama delivered a fiery, unapologetic speech to a sold-out NAACP crowd in Detroit yesterday, blasting "corporate media" for painting him as un-American. "I am not running for the Oval Office," said the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.  "I have been running for Jesus, and I'm not tired yet." Just hours earlier Wright reemerged as a campaign issue in comments by both Obama and McCain. 

Obama said in a Fox News interview that he believes his former minister and church have been treated unfairly, but also understands that people have been "legitimately offended" by comments Wright has made about racist America. McCain, who had earlier agreed to avoid the controversy, said now that Obama has labeled Wright a "legitimate issue," the pastor's comments will likely again be "in the arena" of campaign debate.
