Obama Donor List Is 'Gigantic'

(Newser) – Barack Obama’s massive donor and networking list—stuffed with data on 2 million people—will make him a major power broker even if his campaign falters, Bloomberg reports. Unlike past hopefuls, Obama has inspired donors to reveal addresses, phone numbers, and even views on specific issues. "It's gigantic," a database company CEO said of the list.

It's not only worth an estimated $200 million—the list could transform politics for decades to come. "We are talking about a fundraising network that will far surpass the dominance that the Republicans held in the '80s and even in to the '90s," one former John Kerry strategist said. How did Obama do it? Here's one clue: He's got 790,000 Facebook friends, far more than either Hillary Clinton or John McCain.
