Drugmaker Gets In Roseanne Burn After Ambien Tweet

During her tweetstorm about the cancellation of her show and the racist comment that caused it, Roseanne Barr tweeted Tuesday night that "it was 2 in the morning and I was ambien tweeting." (She later deleted the tweet.) Not only did other Twitter users quickly pan that excuse—NPR takes note of one response joking, "If your racism lasts longer than four hours, please see a doctor"—but the drugmaker itself weighed in. "People of all races, religions and nationalities work at Sanofi every day to improve the lives of people around the world," tweeted Sanofi US. "While all pharmaceutical treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication." (In the same Ambien tweet, Roseanne also told followers not to defend her.)
