At least 38 people were shot over the weekend in Chicago, nine of them fatally, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Those injured included a 12-year-old boy hit by a stray bullet during a shootout on the Far South Side, the Chicago Tribune reports. Six people were shot at an outdoor party on the South Side, including a 39-year-old man who died of his injuries. Two women were arguing with a man they knew when he took out a gun and shot them in their legs; they were in stable condition. A woman who tried to break up a fight between a relative and another person was shot when the second person got upset and fired at her; she was also in stable condition. The newspapers have more details on many more of the shootings and fatalities. (More Chicago stories.)
