An Ohio police officer was fired for pulling over his daughter's boyfriend and detaining the young man in his squad car, Fox 8 reports. "You can get out. For what? You're going to jail. For what? Get out. For what? Have a seat in my car. We'll make (BEEP) up as we go," patrolman John Kovach of Lorain, Ohio, was recorded on dashcam video April 16 telling the boyfriend. Soon after boyfriend Makai Coleman, 18, gets in the cruiser, Kovach sees his daughter is one of two other people in the car—and she confronts him about his actions. "You can't take me; I am 18," says the girl, who remains unidentified. "Goodbye. You have to give me a reason, by law. Daddy, why are pushing me? Why are you (BLEEP) pushing me?"

Amid all this, a woman named Gloria Morales—the mother of two people in the car, per the Chronicle—emerges from a nearby house where the daughter was staying gets in a dispute with Kovach. Meanwhile, dashcam footage shows that Kovach was called for a road rage incident and never responded. In less than a month, Kovach was fired. His actions were "an abuse of police authority and a serious departure from appropriate protocol," Police Chief Cel Rivera says in a memo. Seems Kovach and his ex-wife had concerns about the daughter's relationship with Coleman, saying he was a bad person who had been arrested for marijuana possession. Kovach is appealing his termination. (See the dashcam footage here, but be warned, it's traumatic and includes profanity.)
