Furcal's 5 Hits Help Dodgers Beat Marlins

(Newser) – Chad Billingsley pitched seven innings to win for the first time this season and Rafael Furcal had a career-high five hits for the Los Angeles Dodgers, who extended their winning streak to five games by beating the Florida Marlins, 13-1 on Wednesday night. Furcal went 5-for-6 with a double, giving him 17 extra-base hits.

Billingsley (1-4) allowed three hits and one run to lower his ERA from 6.53 to 5.20. He had eight strikeouts, giving him 40 in 27 2-3 innings. Scott Olsen (3-1) allowed seven hits and four runs in five innings, and the NL East-leading Marlins lost for the first time in his six starts. Manager Joe Torre used the same lineup for the second game in a row, which made it 25 lineups in 27 games.
