Angels Beat A's 6-1

(Newser) – Ervin Santana remained unbeaten in six starts, Casey Kotchman drove in three runs with a pair of doubles and the Los Angeles Angels beat the Oakland Athletics 6-1 Wednesday night. Santana (5-0) allowed an unearned run and four hits over 6 2-3 innings with three strikeouts and a walk. The right-hander is 8-1 lifetime against Oakland with a 1.25 ERA.

The Angels now have two pitchers with 5-0 records in April during the same season for the first time in their 48-year history. Joe Saunders beat the A's 2-0 Tuesday night for his fifth win in six starts. The only other Angels pitcher to go 5-0 in April was Frank Tanana in 1978.

The World Umpires Association signed the agreement yesterday after days of haggling over details.     Griffey Slams No. 609, Now 5th on HR List Ken Griffey Jr. slammed his 609th home run today to move into a tie with Sammy Sosa for fifth on the Major League Baseball career list. Only Barry Bonds (762), Hank Aaron (755), Babe Ruth (714), and Willie Mays (660) have hit more. Griffey's two-run drive helped his Chicago White Sox rout Seattle, 15-3.
