Author Uses Costas Show to Blast Bloggers

The déclassé world of sports bloggers infiltrates the vaunted mainstream media today with New York Times sports media expert Richard Sandomir's take on Tuesday's episode of HBO's Costas Now. The live "town hall" setting included a segment on sports bloggers that quickly devolved into a tirade by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Buzz Bissinger, best known as the author of Friday Night Lights.
"Bissinger entered in an extreme state of annoyance and outrage," Sandomir writes, and proceeded to take it out on Deadspin editor Will Leitch—who wasted little time in undercutting Bissinger's argument by posting a well-reasoned take on the incident on his dreaded blog. "His distaste for Leitch and his ilk was communicated with scornful body language," but in the end, Sandomir laments, Bissinger's "attitude subverted a reasonable point."
