(Newser) – Details are spilling out from the memoir of former Trump aide Omarosa Manigault Newman before its official release next week, and the most salacious one so far alleges that Trump used the n-word multiple times during the making of The Apprentice several years ago, reports the New York Times. In her book Unhinged, Omarosa asserts that a tape exists to prove it, according to the Guardian, which first reported the detail. However, Omarosa writes that she did not hear Trump utter the word herself, only that she has spoken to three people who have heard the tape and described its contents to her. Omarosa appeared on the reality show herself in the first season. (Tom Arnold has previously claimed to have heard it.)

  • Harsh accusation: By the time she was fired from her White House position, "it had finally sunk in that the person I’d thought I’d known so well for so long was actually a racist,” she writes in the memoir. "Using the N-word was not just the way he talks but, more disturbing, it was how he thought of me and African Americans as a whole.’’
  • White House statement: “Instead of telling the truth about all the good President Trump and his administration are doing to make America safe and prosperous, this book is riddled with lies and false accusations,” says press chief Sarah Huckabee Sanders. “It’s sad that a disgruntled former White House employee is trying to profit off these false attacks, and even worse that the media would now give her a platform, after not taking her seriously when she had only positive things to say about the president during her time in the administration.”

  • Payoff allegation: In the book, Omarosa says that Lara Trump, wife of presidential son Eric, offered her $15,000 a month when she left the White House if she agreed to say nothing negative about the president and his family or Mike Pence and his family, reports NBC News. Omarosa says she rejected the offer.
  • Conway's husband: The book also alleges that Trump made racist jokes about George Conway, who is half-Filipino and the husband of aide Kellyanne Conway. Omarosa claims Trump used the derogatory terms "flip" and "goo-goo" in regard to Conway, but Conway himself thinks that's "absurd," he tweeted. "The allegation is not credible, and indeed is ridiculous, particularly in light of the timing of her departure from the White House—December 12, 2017. It’s absurd all around." Politico explains the significance of the date: It wasn't widely well-known at that point that Conway sometimes criticized the president on Twitter; stories on it didn't widely emerge until after Omarosa left.
  • Weird one: Perhaps the strangest claim made by Omarosa is that she once saw Trump literally chewing and swallowing a piece of paper while former attorney Michael Cohen left his office. "It must have been something very, very sensitive," she writes. The Washington Post reports that White House aides laughed at the allegation and called it untrue.
  • More details: Omarosa claims that Trump had a tanning bed installed in the White House residence, per the Post. She also calls her former boss a "racist, misogynist and bigot," and says one of the reasons she was fired was because it was known she was trying to acquire the Apprentice tape.
An earlier report said Omarosa has secretly taped conversations with Trump. (Read more Omarosa stories.)
