Bautista Homers Twice as Pirates Rip Nationals

Posted May 2, 08 11:37 PM CDT in Sports    Most Covered

(Newser) – Jose Bautista homered twice and drove in four runs and the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated Washington 11-4 on Friday, ending the Nationals' winning streak at a season-high four games. Ryan Doumit and Chris Gomez had two RBIs apiece for the Pirates, who also got five innings of one-hit ball from their bullpen, led by winner Damaso Marte (2-0).

The game was delayed 25 minutes in the bottom of the fourth when rows of lights along the left- and right-field lines went dark. Pittsburgh took a 6-0 lead in the second, sending nine men to the plate and breaking John Lannan's scoreless streak at a Nationals-record 21 innings. Lannan (2-3) left after allowing five earned runs on six hits in three innings.
