Blue Jays Top White Sox

Posted May 2, 08 11:21 PM CDT in Sports

(Newser) – Shaun Marcum matched Mark Buehrle pitch for pitch and Shannon Stewart drove in the only runs, helping the Toronto Blue Jays beat the White Sox 2-0 last night for Chicago's third straight defeat. Marcum (3-2) struck out nine and won for the first time in three starts. He allowed just two hits, both singles by Orlando Cabrera, and walked three.

Scott Rolen and Vernon Wells scored for the Jays. Toronto has won two straight, both shutouts, after losing eight of their previous nine - including six in a row. Buehrle (1-3) gave up two runs - both unearned - on five hits in eight innings. He hasn't won since April 6 at Detroit, a span of four starts.
