Maddux Still Waiting for Win No. 350

Posted May 4, 08 9:50 PM CDT in Sports    Most Covered

(Newser) – When Greg Maddux left in the sixth inning, he walked off the mound and headed directly for the clubhouse, bypassing the San Diego Padres' dugout. There were no slaps on the back from teammates, and no milestones for Maddux, either. He failed in his fourth bid to reach 350 victories today, when he was outpitched and lost to the Florida Marlins, 10-3.

Maddux (2-3) twice failed to hold a lead, and he allowed 11 hits and five runs, four earned, in 5 2-3 innings. The four-time Cy Young award winner is 0-3 in four starts since April 13. Andrew Miller (2-2) earned his seventh career win with his best performance since joining the Marlins in the offseason - reducing his ERA from 9.12 to 7.96.
