Selena Gomez has reportedly had some medical issues over the past few weeks, and they may have led to what TMZ is calling an "emotional breakdown." Sources tell the site the 26-year-old singer is currently at an East Coast psychiatric center after two reported visits to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, apparently regarding complications tied to her kidney transplant over the summer; Page Six hints lupus issues may also have contributed. The sources say she first visited the hospital late last month after she became "despondent and emotional" due to a very low white-blood-cell count. After her release from that hospital stay, she reportedly headed back there last week for the same reason, and when she tried to leave and doctors wouldn't let her, she "freaked out" and went into "meltdown" mode, trying to yank her IVs out, per the sources.

A source tells People she suffered a panic attack during that second hospital visit. "She has had a tough few weeks, and the panic attack in the hospital was the tipping point," the source tells the magazine, which notes this report comes less than three weeks after Gomez announced on Instagram she was taking a break from being online. "As much as I am grateful for the voice that social media gives each of us, I am equally grateful to be able to step back and live my life present to the moment I have been given," she wrote on Sept. 23. Per TMZ, Gomez is now undergoing DBT, or dialectical behavior therapy, which has been used to treat such mental health conditions as depression, borderline personality disorder, PTSD, and substance abuse issues. The site notes she's had DBT previously. (More Selena Gomez stories.)
