Big Unit Earns 286th Career Win

Posted May 7, 08 12:29 AM CDT in Sports

(Newser) – Stephen Drew hit a three-run homer and Randy Johnson earned his 286th victory as the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 6-4 on Tuesday night in a matchup of NL division leaders. Drew's homer capped a five-run outburst against Adam Eaton (0-1) in the fourth inning. Johnson (2-1) went six innings, matching his longest outing, and allowed four runs on six hits and struck out six.

He also surrendered two homers, walked two and hit a batter. The Big Unit gave up a total of five earned runs in his first three starts after returning from back surgery. In his last two outings, Johnson has allowed 10. Brandon Lyon pitched the ninth for his 10th save in 12 chances for Arizona, which avoided its first three-game losing streak.
