In one of his stranger arguments in favor of a border wall, President Trump observed Sunday that his predecessor has a wall surrounding his residence in Washington, DC. "President and Mrs. Obama built/has a ten foot Wall around their D.C. mansion/compound," Trump tweeted. "I agree, totally necessary for their safety and security. The U.S. needs the same thing, slightly larger version!" TMZ published photos of a brick wall under construction at the Obamas' home in the Kalorama neighborhood before they bought it for $8 million last year, NBC reports. Sen. Lindsey Graham said after meeting with Trump on Sunday that the president is "firm in his commitment" to secure funding for a border wall before ending the government shutdown, the Hill reports. (When he was running for president in 2016, Trump noted that Pope Francis has "an awfully big wall at the Vatican.")
