President Trump's recent claim that Barack and Michelle Obama have a "ten foot Wall around their D.C. mansion/compound" was news to the former first couple's neighbors. Trump "has a very active imagination," one neighbor near the Obamas' home in the capital's Kalorama neighborhood tells the Washington Post. "There’s a fence that goes along the front of the house, but it’s the same as the other neighbors have,” the neighbor said. "It’s tastefully done." A Post editor who tried to go to the residence found that part of the street was blocked off but was unable to see a wall from their vantage point.

The Obamas have built a guard post and added some security fencing in the front and back of the home, but neighbors say it is "100% visible" from the street. "There is no 10-foot wall in the front, back, or sides of the house—and no wall is going up," another neighbor tells the Post. Trump continued to tweet about the border wall New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. He wished a happy new year, in all-caps, to everybody, including the "HATERS AND THE FAKE NEWS MEDIA!" "2019 WILL BE A FANTASTIC YEAR FOR THOSE NOT SUFFERING FROM TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME," he tweeted. "JUST CALM DOWN AND ENJOY THE RIDE." (On Monday, Trump pushed back against John Kelly's statements on the border wall.)
