Clinton Camp May Need Another Loan

Posted May 9, 08 12:43 PM CDT in Politics    Most Covered

(newser) – Hillary Clinton's loss of momentum is taking a tangible toll on her ability to raise—and spend—money, leaving her campaign even more strapped for cash at a time she needs to pull out all the stops, the New York Times reports. Advisers say that Clinton is prepared to shell out more of her own, adding to the $11 million she's already provided.

A Clinton finance chairman points out that “people at the grass roots are still willing to spend $5, $25, $50, whatever it is, to be supportive,” but others are worried about sagging donor excitement. With debts mounting, the campaign will have to trim its spending in West Virginia, Kentucky, and Oregon, and hope that wins will bring in more cash.
