This year's Oscar nominees are out, with Roma and The Favourite leading all films with 10 nominations each. Also of note: Lady Gaga received two nominations for her work in A Star Is Born (one for actress, the other for original song), and Spike Lee got his first nomination as best director for BlackkKlansman, per the AP. Also, Netflix scored its first best picture nomination for Roma. The big nominees:

  • Best picture: Black Panther, BlacKkKlansman, Bohemian Rhapsody, The Favourite, Green Book, Roma, A Star Is Born, and Vice.
  • Best actress: Yalitza Aparicio, Roma; Glenn Close, The Wife; Olivia Colman, The Favourite; Lady Gaga, A Star Is Born; Melissa McCarthy, Can You Ever Forgive Me?
  • Best actor: Christian Bale, Vice; Bradley Cooper, A Star Is Born; Rami Malek, Bohemian Rhapsody; Viggo Mortensen, Green Book; Willem Dafoe, At Eternity's Gate.
  • Best director: Alfonso Cuaron, Roma; Spike Lee, BlacKkKlansman; Pawel Pawlikowski, Cold War; Yorgos Lanthimos, The Favourite; and Adam McKay, Vice.

  • Supporting actress: Amy Adams, Vice; Marina de Tavira, Roma; Regina King, If Beale Street Could Talk; Emma Stone, The Favourite; and Rachel Weisz, The Favourite.
  • Supporting actor: Mahershala Ali, Green Book; Sam Elliott, A Star Is Born; Adam Driver, BlacKkKlansman; Richard E. Grant, Can You Ever Forgive Me?; and Sam Rockwell, Vice.
  • Original screenplay: The Favourite, Deborah Davis and Tony McNamara;
    First Reformed; Paul Schrader; Green Book, Nick Vallelonga, Brian Currie, and Peter Farrelly; Roma, Alfonso Cuarón; and Vice, Adam McKay.
  • Best animated film: Incredibles 2, Isle of Dogs, Mirai, Ralph Breaks the Internet, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
  • Best original song: "When A Cowboy Trades His Spurs For Wings" from The Ballad of Buster Scruggs; "All The Stars" from Black Panther; "I'll Fight" from RBG; "The Place Where Lost Things Go" from Mary Poppins Returns; and "Shallow" from A Star Is Born.
