"Your neighborhood grocery store" is also your favorite, according to dunnhumby's second annual Retailer Preference Index. Some 7,000 US households were surveyed on 56 of the largest grocery stores to find out which have the top mix of financial performance and consumer emotional attachment. Consumers—who reported their level of satisfaction and likelihood of recommending a store to others—viewed price, quality, and operations as most important, though dunnhumby says the top dog focuses on "speed of in-store shopping" and making available a "rich private brand offering," per the Houston Chronicle. The top 10:

  1. Trader Joe's
  2. Costco
  3. Amazon
  4. H-E-B
  5. Wegmans
  6. Market Basket
  7. Sam's Club
  8. Sprouts Farmers Markets
  9. WinCo Foods
  10. Walmart
