“Did you have to buy an extra seat for your hat, sir?” Visitors to Denver International Airport, including the man in a cowboy hat who was asked that question, are being surprised by a seriously chatty gargoyle. The talking statue has been installed in the center of the airport to "throw shade, tell jokes, and confuse the hell out of travelers," as Mashable puts it. The stunt is part of the airport's commemoration of its 24th anniversary, notes the Denver Post. The airport is linked to some elaborate conspiracy theories, and the gargoyle was playing along. “Welcome to Illuminati Headquarters … I mean, Denver International Airport,” it says to one passerby. See the video here. As an airport tweet puts it, "DEN not only got wiser, we also got a little weirder." (More Denver International Airport stories.)
