There's nothing wrong with the tablets themselves, but a nationwide recall of birth control pills has been announced by the Food and Drug Administration due to a packaging goof that could cause women to miss pills or take placebos, possibly leading to pregnancy, People reports. The FDA alert notes that four lots of drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol tablets made by Apotex Corp. are affected, with the pills possibly being arranged incorrectly in the packages, which may also contain empty blister pockets. "As a result of this packaging error ... loss of efficacy is possible due to variation in the dosage consumed," says the FDA, which adds no reports of unwanted pregnancy have yet come in. Affected lots can be IDed by these numbers on the inside and outer cartons: 7DY008A, 7DY009a, 7DY010, and 7DY011A. (More recall stories.)
